A reader of our website stayed in the Hilton Barra in Rio de Janeiro and sent us the following review of the hotel.
The Hilton Barra is a large hotel located in the business area of Barra da Tijuca at about 30 km from Galeão-International Airport. I am a diamond member of the Hilton Honors program. Thus, I am pretty well acquainted with Hilton hotels.
As I arrive from Europe my flight lands very early: 5:25 am. I pass passport control in a minute and take a taxi to the hotel, where I arrive at 6:00 am. Nevertheless, I can already check-in, which is very convenient.
When I get in my room it appears to be located close to the elevators. My profile includes my preference for a room away from the elevators. But this time I don’t mind I got this room. It is nice and roomy and it looks like I have been upgraded.
Hilton Barra Executive lounge
The hotel features an executive lounge. It seems always open to those whose room keys allow entering the 8th floor. I visit the lounge several times, but I never see an agent. Guests can use a coffee machine, they can take bottles with cooled water and there is fresh fruit available. It is all free of charge.
I consider in particular the fresh fruit important as a frequent traveler. Thus, I am happy with the fresh fruit I can eat every day. Although there is also fruit available at breakfast, it seems partly canned rather than fresh.
The concierge and other personnel are friendly and helpful. When asked, the concierge tells me I can print my boarding pass in the business center. But as I have a flash drive with me he immediately offers to print it at his desk.
In my room I find a hand written card from the Hilton Barra team. They welcome me to the hotel in recognition as a diamond member. Also, a staff member brings some sweet treats to my room as part of the recognition.
As I have an early evening flight on the day of departure, I ask for a late checkout. That is no problem at all. It makes my stay in this hotel even more pleasant. It is probably the best stay I have ever had in a Hilton hotel.
All in all it was very pleasant to stay in a nice hotel with a friendly staff.
